Ian Cooke, Peter Harris and Bill Lynch of Tameside UKIP were invited to a special event on 1st June, where people at the top of the Leave campaign wanted to thank supporters of Vote Leave for their hard work. Those people were none other than Rt Hons Boris Johnson MP, Michael Gove MP, Priti Patel MP, and Tim Martin, owner and founder of the pub chain Wetherspoons.
The event, arranged for supporters from the North West, was informal with each of the four speakers praising the efforts of all the Vote Leave supporters and helpers, emphasising also that this wasn’t a campaign just for politicians, it truly was a campaign by the people, for the people. The four leaders then went among the group of 40-50 supporters for a drink, chat and any campaign discussion points of interest. Anyone wishing for a quick photo shot was kindly rewarded.
Tameside UKIP have so far delivered 1000’s of leaflets in the area and gained 150 signed pledges of support at their table top stalls in Ashton. As well as leafleting during this coming week, it is currently planned to visit Ashton, Stalybridge and Hyde on Saturday, 11th June.
