What have we this week?
Another long winded diatribe in his regular column in The Reporter by Cllr Taylor courtesy of his speechwriter about……, actually I cannot recall, recycling or something, I fell asleep before the end of the letter.
More importantly, in The Advertiser, were several letters relating to his disgraceful and surely democratically questionable letter about the Hyde library petition. You will recall that he called it “ill advised” for Karen Garner , to present it to John Bell, a Conservative, Hyde Werneth Councillor, for submission to Cllr Taylor. All four letters published ( I trust there were many more sent) were critical of the crude and bullying words used, and one requested a call for Cllr Taylor’s resignation and further action by Cllr Bell to bring him to account. I do hope Cllr Bell has the courage and conviction to do so!
Refreshingly, and I am sure she is not alone, Mrs Moody from Ashton, a lifelong Labour supporter, was so disgusted that she stated intention to never vote Labour locally ever again! I do hope she will join the large numbers of such Labour voters who are supporting Ukip now.
Ruth Welsh an ex Conservative Councillor brilliantly threw some of Cllr Taylors beloved statistics back at him to debunk the Council’s default and intellectually lame “ Tory Govt cuts are to blame “ mantra.
Phil Chadwick’s letter threw some light on the real sequence of events behind the petition to show Labour councillors’ lack of guts in supporting constituents with grievances against their paymasters.
In other media releases we see the genesis of a child sexual exploitation story developing in South Manchester. Watch this space, especially in the context of an official announcement;
An independent report has found child sexual exploitation is a “ real and ongoing problem ” that has become “ normal “ in some parts of Greater Manchester!
Digest this information in its content and geography! You can see David Turner’s letter about PC (Political Correctness ) on this site in its uncensored form, unlike that printed by The Advertiser, where David makes reference to Labour Councils and Police Forces around the country apparently suppressing such information through the abuse of P. C., for example in the sexual grooming case in Rotherham. The possibility of it perhaps being applicable in Tameside is therefore not quite so outrageous is it, much as we would all like to think not? The howls of protest from Labour about poor taste, political capital from discomfort etc, etc are made out of embarrassment and guilt at the fact that it is happening on their watch and will cost them huge amounts of votes!!
Finally, the Tameside Voice ( a Labour propaganda rag ) wishes to paint Ukip as more Tory than the Tories, by implying smears usually aimed at the Tories as being Ukip policy, eg Privatising the NHS and wow, get this – “ applying a flat rate of tax which would see Tameside residents paying the same rate of tax as millionaire bankers in the City of London ”. I assume they mean a select few very, very rich Tameside residents; perhaps such as the Labour leader and several of his acolytes, including executives within TMBC earning 6 figure salaries!
KEEP SMEARING US LABOUR – AND WE WILL KEEP TAKING YOUR NOW ENLIGHTENED VOTERS!
PS – visual medium; is this Call the Council TV series doing anything to enhance Tameside and maybe attract inward investment? In the recent episode, the “ Flanders Pigeon Murderer “ is at it again because the pigeons are potentially a health hazard. Not so the takeaways it appears. I wonder if like me you saw the episodes where the kitchens in the takeaways visited were in such an appalling state that I cannot think of words strong enough to describe their filthy condition to anybody who has not seen them with their own eyes! Instead of firmly closing them down there and then, as surely you think they should, the inspectors were wringing their hands apologetically and obsequiously asking the owners if they might see themselves as perhaps tidying up a little before they come back! Is this our old friend P C raising its head again or regulations so weak as to threaten the health of our citizens?
